Running for Bibles!

Sena Bible Project

Introduction. Thousands of Sena speaking Christians in Malawi do not have Bibles. A few years ago, Barry Funnell and Word for the World, completed a full translation of the Sena Bible. After an initial print run the Sena Bible has been sold out and there are none available at the MBS (Malawian Bible Society).

On a recent visit I spent some time with the director of the MBS and he recommended a minimum print run of 3,000 to 5,000. Of course a 10,000 print run would be cheaper, but the costs are very high for one off run like this.

Run for Bibles Challenge

In 2009 Hannalie Loots ran the Comrades in aid of the Sena Bible project. It was amazing how people were willing to sponsor her run.

In 2010 we hope to have at least 100 runners helping us raise the needed funds to print Sena Bibles for Malawi.

Make your run count. Running the Comrades has a huge personal significance for those that tackle the race. Now you can give eternal significance to it too by using the opportunity to raise funds for Bibles.

In Europe – especially the London Marathon – and in the USA it is becoming increasingly popular to run marathons in aid of children. Thousands make the effort of finding sponsors in aid of their favourite charity.

Let us give input to this new culture in South Africa of running with a purpose. Run for Bibles this year.

E-mail us with your details and we will post you the necessary forms or download forms from the Run for Bibles page.

Comrades 2009

B4B (Bibles for Believers) launched the Sena Project just before the annual Comrades Marathon in May 2009 and Hannalie Loots, our office manager, ran a sponsored race for the Sena Project. She completed the 89 km race and raised just over R 30,000 for this project.

We want to raise at least R 200,000. Word for the World has agreed to try raise a matching amount and together we will try to ensure a reasonable print run and then a strategic Bible Placement.
